HPA Training Student Support Policy

Policy

HPA Training has established and maintains the following support arrangements (if applicable) to cater for the student’s individual needs and to inform training staff of these arrangements and schedule a reminder for the allocated trainer prior to the commencement of the student’s course.

Based on the LLN interview and the completed pre-enrolment booking form HPA Training will determine if:

  • the student’s language, literacy and numeracy skill levels are adequate to meet the requirements of the training program;
  • the student has any need for individual support services or consideration of reasonable adjustment at the point of enrolment to allow training programs to be suitably adjusted; or
  • the student requires specialist support to improve their language, literacy and numeracy skills prior to commencing the program.

Procedure

If support services are identified, the following is a guide to support that can and should be provided:

Minor LLN
More time to study and more individual attention from our trainers. Longer time period to complete course (if necessary). Able to contact trainers after hours via phone or email.

Significant LLN deficiency that would prevent participation and completion of the course
Refer the student to TAFE/local Community College to complete course in Language, Literacy and Numeracy or direct them to www.readingwritinghotline.edu.au  https://www.readingwritinghotline.edu.au/for-learners

Work hours are restrictive which would prevent the student attending training during Monday to Friday normal working hours
Course can be offered as an evening or weekend course to accommodate the availability of the student. (as long as we reach minimum numbers)

English as second language
More time to study and more individual attention from our trainers. Longer time period to complete course (if necessary).
Able to contact trainers after hours via phone or email.

Students with a disability or medical condition
All possible allowances may be provided to persons with disabilities.
Assessors are to use their judgement in assessing the student’s ability to perform tasks in a safe manner. For most of HPA Training courses students must have necessary health and fitness to carry out duties safely.
